America goes to war
A third event that affected Nikola Tesla was World War I. It started in eastern Europe in 1914 in Tesla's homeland. It started because a Serbian assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary. In 1917 America joined the "Great War". In the later years of his life Tesla tried to invent a machine to end all war.
